I was reading a blog by Chris Blattman on international development and I came across this gem of a portrait. Yeah, that is LL Cool J.
Chris, I am impressed.
Lego Terrorists
Brickarms, makers of unauthorized accessories for my favourite toy, has released a “bandit” series—which allows you to make your lego guys looks like mujahideen. I love this now, but I cannot imagine how cool it would have been when I was 10. Of course, it would not have passed my mom’s ban on violent toys.

XKCD: How did I miss this one?!
So my cousin Matt visits me in Cairo and mentions xkcd in passing. It rings a bell, but I can’t remember anything about it. I googled it today and it all came rushing back. This genius comic is even more nerd-boner-inducing than indexed (which is pretty good if you are into charts).
Thanks Matt.

This appears in a WSJ article about the internet cables in the Middle East being cut. The actual caption is, “Is this what’s cutting the cables?”
