XKCD: How did I miss this one?! →
So my cousin Matt visits me in Cairo and mentions xkcd in passing. It rings a bell, but I can’t remember anything about it. I googled it today and it all came rushing back. This genius comic is even more nerd-boner-inducing than indexed (which is pretty good if you are into charts). Thanks Matt.

More features in Tumblr
New (minor) update to Tumblr today. Finally I can preview my posts before creating them. Now all we need is a useful implementation of tags.

lastgraph →
Lastgraph is a free service created by Andrew Godwin that generates beautiful histographs of your last.fm music history. I just recently rediscovered it and, having been jealous of Lee Byron’s personal graphs for around a year, I thought I would give it a shot. I entered my username, a date range (Dec 05 to Dec 07), and my email address (optional, used for notification) and within minutes I...

Liberals walk out of confidence vote,...
From CBC News:  “Liberal MPs walked out of the House of Commons on Tuesday in protest of a motion, later passed, that called for the Senate to approve an omnibus crime bill by the beginning of March. Led by Liberal House Leader Ralph Goodale, the caucus streamed out of the chamber as the vote was set to begin. Some Conservatives taunted the MPs as they exited, singing, Na na na na, hey hey...

Spore to ship in September →
It will launch with PC, Mac, DS, and mobile phone versions of the game. I consider the DS one bought. Will my macbook run it though? I doubt it. Biggest unanswered question: Will models and characters be shared across different platforms? That would make it the greatest game in the history of humanity.

One in the same?
I was catching up on old articles on PSD, a World Bank development blog, and I came across this wonderful line from a departing blogger, “If you’re a World Bank staffer and favor market solutions to development, talk to Alan about a possibility of guest blogging.” It just makes me wonder, does anyone at the Bank not favour market solutions to development? Moody's Warning Labels (sub-prime version) →
So Moody’s (the ratings agency who rated all sorts of absolute junk AAA in the run up to the sub-prime crisis) is planning on avoiding a similar situation in the future by including “new labels to help investors distinguish collateralized debt obligations and other structured-finance investments from corporate bonds and Treasury securities” (from WSJ). I don’t know if...

Okay, that is the fourth cable in almost as many days. Now I am trying not to be a conspiracy theorist—but what non-conspiratorial explanation is there?? Are ships still dragging their f-ing anchors?
